The Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam is a competency test designed to assess a candidate’s knowledge and skills in medical coding. Administered by the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders), the exam covers various coding systems, including ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and HCPCS Level II codes, as well as guidelines for coding medical procedures, diagnoses, and services.

Exam Structure

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is a computer-based exam which includes 100 multiple-choice questions. You get four hours of time and need a minimum score of 70% to pass the CPC exam.
